Thread: Obi/Luke Hybrid

  1. #1

    Default Obi/Luke Hybrid

I have decided for my second saber to do an Obi-Wan/Luke hybrid. This saber is not yet complete as I have a few things left to complete.

Here is my Obi/Luke Hybrid: (apologies now for large pictar)

    Innards:
    • Rebel Star Amber LED
    • 700ma BuckPuck
    • 6v battery pack
    • No sound

This will have Activation Box 1 attaching to the top row of screw holes. The standard black latching switch (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Pu...tton--P40.aspx) fits inside with the button being vertical. I am wanting it to be horizontal, and coming out the side of the activation box. From what I've done research and what I'm wanting, I'm thinking of getting a tactile momentary switch ( maybe this: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/SP...itch-P641.aspx) and using the Pololu board. Any thoughts on that? Or maybe a better latching switch that will fit with the button out the side of the box.

    Work needing done:
    • Trim screws down for bottom row next to pommel, so that screws dont interfere with threading of pommel and extension.
    • Thread holes in activation box for screw to fit on top row screw holes.
    • Drill larger hole in extension where box sits for wiring into box.
    • Drill and tap bottom hole from activation box into extension.
    • Wire together saber.
    • Have a tasty beverage.

    Thoughts and suggestions always welcome.

    Well, got the following completed:
    • Trim screws down for bottom row next to pommel, so that screws dont interfere with threading of pommel and extension.
    • Thread holes in activation box for screw to fit on top row screw holes.
    • Drill larger hole in extension where box sits for wiring into box.
    • Drill and tap bottom hole from activation box into extension.

Now to find a good switch that will fit in Activation Box 1. Found out the standard latching switch won't do it. I'm thinking of going with a tactile momentary switch and using the Pololu board. Suggestions are always welcome.

Pololu boards came in. Now to get a tactile switch that will work best for Activation box 1.

I do not consider this double posting, but more as a build log.

    Looking foward to it.
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.
