Default Newbie building a PVC Saber

    Greetings fellow lightsaber enthusiasts!

After a year of procrastination, I've finally decided to move my butt to the hardware store to get the parts to build my own saber.
Shipping stuff from the US is crazy expensive, so I've decided to go to a local hardware store instead.

I just bought a 12" PVC sink tube with an emitter attachment and the end cap. I'm not sure if the measurements I got were right.
    Pipe ID: 1.5"

I've gotten my electronics as well, (Brandless) Green POWER LED(Power Rating 3W, forward voltage:3.5V) Together with a Resistor (5W,3.9ohm) and a 4AA battery pack.
What I'm missing is the heatsink and the blade holder which I'm having loads of doubts about.

Firstly, I can't find any heatsinks in Singapore that are similar to the ones you guys use.
Secondly, why is it necessary for the blade holder, is it not possible to hold the blade from just the hilt? (Just asking, really unsure.)

I know there have probably been many questions bout this before, but I'm really dumb and I can't find the keywords! =((

    MUCH HELP APPRECIATED! =DD

There is a great tutorial by Jay-gon Jinn for PVC sabers. http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...st-page/page23

You may have to scroll down a bit until you find his posts.

I know several people have made PVC sabers and used copper pipe end-caps for their heatsinks. Keep reading around the forums and you should be able to find more information on this.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

I have a big bag of these left over that i got for my pvc sabers a while back. it should hold the lens and the LED. for the blade holder, you could get another piece of pvc with a 1" ID so that you could fit the blade directly into the hilt, also a tube with 1.5" ID is probably too large to make a good looking saber. i ordered some pipe about that size for a project a while ago, and it was way off for a saber.
