    Measure the outer diameter of the blade holder you wish to use at the location where you would like to place the screw. Subtract the outer diameter of your blade (which is 1 inch) and then divide the result by two. The resulting number is the wall thickness of the blade holder. Your screw needs to be a touch longer than the wall thickness unless you are planning on using a set screw, in which case it can be ever so slightly shorter.

    Sorry to jump on this one so late but don't forget that if you do get a "longer" screw than you need, you can always cut it down to the size that will fit. Personally I end up with that quite a bit. I use 8-32, sometimes easier to cut, and as previously stated, if it strips out you can always drill/re-tap for a 10-32 (also had to do that a few times ).
