It's PVC..probably a coupler that has been modified. I did the same thing a few times myself. You can also sand off the rim on the TCSS speaker holder if you want them to fit elsewhere in the hilt other then the pommel. I've yet to put one in the pommel myself.

It is not a modified coupler...I cut that to fit from a piece of 1" electrical conduit pvc.

how much time do you spend polishing these sabers Jay?

Not that much, actually. I have an attachment that I use on a drill to spin the parts as I wet-sand and polish them.
