That one depends on if the remote feels like it.

You might want to try reprogramming it. If not sometimes a simple hit will jolt it into working.

If you look into the home security stuff you should find a remote control for a electrical outlet designed for turning a light on and off remotely. Use a ac-dc power supply to power your saber and plug it into the light control module. That is the simplest way to get remote control.

you might consider a motion sensor and keep the sensing unit near your cameraman and have him trigger it when necessary

Yeah, that made my mind jog though... how about a motion sensor (or like a laser trip, sort of like those on garage doors) that turns it on as you enter the room. This all pretty much goes with a wall port as I see it...

Other than an actual remote I don't see much of a way to make this... and a physical remote would be lame. You have to get it and you might as well just walk over and turn it on if you don't already have it on you.[xx(]

x-wings got a great idea, and probably the best, the motion sensor. it could be wired tot he switch wires. maybe look for one of those cheap toys with a sensor in it, and scavenge it out.

Another thing you could do is if you have a switched outlet change out the standard toggle for a Motion Wall Switch. Just an Idea, also check Radio Shack they used to carry a Key Chain size Ac Remote unit with a wall outlet Module.[]
