Radica Binoculars: WIP

I recently picked up a pair of these of of Ebay for a decent price and am going to try and mod these to go with my mando armor that i am working on

I know that i can get a kit from here Doopy Doo's

I was wondering if anybody ever modded one of these and what they used for the elecronics to make the LCD light up and what type of LCD that they used

Mine is in the mail right now. I was considering printing a scanner image on an overhead transparency sheet and then lighting it with EL sheet. I'm not going to bother with LCD at all.

well not sure about using el technology never used it before but sounds interesting to say the least

I was thinking of some kinda star wars image like AT-AT walkers on a image on plexi glass and led to light it up

not sure if will work just an idea

I considered LEDs too because they will be brighter, but I'm not sure how evenly I can diffuse the light across the entire screen. Perhaps some sort of side-lit screen would work?

possibly, yea the LED would be brighter was thinking more of like a lux 1 since it is not as bright as the P4 the shop sells

and for the screen was thinking plexiglass since I have access to it and know how to get it into the shape that it needs to be in

If you wanted to use LED's you could get maybe two or three and get a side emitting lens, like this. It should diffuse the light sideways mostly but you will get some straightforward lighting as well.

meh, i would take apart a camera and rebuild it into the binoculars. then add some real lenses into it. the settings buttons would be the issue for me, i think...
