    Default CF Power Drivers

    I have a question about CF and how it draws power...

    On my non-sound sabers I use a buckpuck and a 14.8V Lithium Ion Pack. To my royal blue rebel it draws 14.8V @ about 300-350mA. It outputs 3.3-3.4V @ 1000mA constant.

    Would the CF do this? or would it be better to wire the batteries in parallel for 7.4V?

    (Im planning on getting one eventually)

    Well firstly CF shouldn't be given any more than 11v, so your question is null anyway.
    7.4v is the best solution.

    Yes, but will it pull a reduced amount of amperage from the pack at the higher voltage? Cause I can still pull 11v as well. I'm trying to figure out why 2x 14500 might be better for it than 4x NIMH AA

    Lol no that doesn't make sense.
    Comparing CF and a buckpuck is like comparing Ferrari to a tricycle.

    CF senses your LED voltage, and you adjust the LED current in the main configuration file.

    And don't give a CF board 11v. Its overkill firstly, and also you can use the extra cells for longer runtimes. More voltage = not better.

    It pulls less current with more voltage true. If those batteries were in parallel for 7.4v the current rating would double so power consumption would remain the same.

    The real reason to go with 7.4v packs is the bigger the difference between led vf and pack voltage a puck or a regulator will have to work harder and not be as efficient.

    Also more space is saved by having fewer batteries in a hilt.

    Works for me. Heres hoping i can get my hands on one and do this. (I'll probably use 2x 14650s @ 1600mA) At that rate i should get over 2 hours of constant on even with sound.

    Just to mirror what Sunrider said, the voltage reg on the board gets HOT after extended use, I'm using 7.4v
    I can't imagine the results would be good with 11v.
