    Default Lens Question

I recently soldered up most of my saber, including my red P4. I tried to get the optics on, but I can't. The lens holder won't fit onto the star because of one of my solder joints. (The pad was in the way, though.) So, I'm wondering if I could just not use a lens holder and just hot glue the lens to the led (bubble part). Would that blow the LED? Would the lens fall off? Thanks in advance.

Fix the globby solder job. The holder is needed.

There are certain areas of the lens holder that you can kind of gently cut away that might give you the clearance you need. I would advise against directly hot-gluing the lens directly to the LED. Either that or resolder your connections.

Maybe you could post a picture i know i always put my stars on in a way the optics won't mount but it should be an easy fix.

hot gluing the lens directly to the star is like painting a car with peanut butter and bologna. you just don't do it unless you're taking it to the car crusher the next day.

fix the soldering or trim the holder.

Actually, peanut butter can replace bondo in some cases, you just have to make sure ansuse the chunky kind to provide extra filler...

Bologna is used in car interiors. I thought everyone knew that.

What forward voltage is that though?(probably 12 for a car)

Now onto your question, you simply need to redo your solders in a way that you can use the lens holder 100%.. dont compromise or cut corners on your LED thats the most visible piece of a saber and the holder makes sure the lens is seated properly so your at the right angle to get FULL juice out of it. I hope this helps.. I do NOT recommend cutting/clipping the holder unless you have to.. use it as its designed, its perfect that way. I hope that helps.
