As Lord Maul noted, fx-sabers lists variants of the hilts. I have two versions of this hilt; one with an actual clamp, and the other with a molded box serving as the clamp. While the former version of the saber is more accurate, it is also lighter than the latter version; Thus, the clamped version looks better but the molded-box-clamp version feels better in terms of heft and balance.

i also have both versions and i like the one with no clamp better. it has the metal side plates which look a lot more real and sinister to me than the plastic ones

Hm. Yeah, come to think of it, the boxed version of the hilt does look more polished than the clamp version. And the bubble-strip looks better, despite not being as wide as the clamp version.

I wonder why the boxed version is heftier than the clamped one? Surely that little metal box couldn't have added that much weight to the saber.
