Default How to get an LED to flicker? (not relying on sound)

i'm going to work on a crystal chamber and i'd like the crystal's LED to flicker randomly.
not blink on and off, but flicker quickly/randomly.

what's the simplest way to go about doing this?

i'm heading to radio shack in a bit to grab a 2AA battery holder, a switch, a resister and the LED.

Not really a simple way to do it. But you could just have a loose battery, very good for flickering

There are no easy way to do this. But there are programmable electronic candle kits out there that could do this.

    Google.

Well, there are, like Sunrider said these little battery operated candles.
It has a little PCB whith 3V going in, flickering LED going out.
And thats working fine in my CC.

actually just got back from walmart and picked up a 6 pack of flickering LED votive candles.
i gutted the candle, stripped out the chip and wired it in, lol. it just popped into my head when i saw my wife's flicking fake candles in the living room.

    so that's done and done
