Yes. Wire's too cheap for you to have to scavenge for it. ;P Bought a big spooly of it at Radio Shack.
For construction, I had the same problems! Took a bit of effort to get the damn lense holder into the emitter, bt once it got in there, it slid in and out pretty easily. And I'm glad it wasn't just me that had a slight crunch when assembling the whole thing.
