Thread: AV switch with kill key Question

Default AV switch with kill key Question

I'm wiring up a cheapo Hasbro board with the short green av dot switch. I would like the dot to be on when the key is pulled but before the board is on like a stand by. (Staying on when the board is running is fine.) I think I have the wiring down, but was hoping to get confirmation before firing it up and killing my board.

I have the recharge port (neg to board) and (neg to pack) wired per the diagram.
I have the (neg to dot led) from the (neg to board) side of the recharge.
I spliced the (pos from board) and (pos from pack) to pos leg of port.
I have the (pos to dot) coming from the pos side of port with resistor.

The rest of the board is wired correctly. I'm just worried that recharging will send power to the board since I have it spliced to the pack. I believe it should not because the neg is not in use and the circuit is not complete but I do not want to be wrong. Thanks in advance for the help.

I believe it should work the way you have described it.
BTW, a picture would have made thinking this through a whole lot easier.

Thanks. Yeah sorry about that. Cameras dead and I'm useless in ms paint.

Did it work out? I want to do something similar.

Yep. The switch lights up when the kill key is pulled and the saber is in stand-by mode. It also stays on when the board is active.
