My bad...the TIP42 should have 3 wires. If you had followed Equinox13's post
Attachment 4716
you would have been fine. Minus the 5V reg...

what's with all the electrical tape?

i really need "meow on clash" mya! =^_^=

dual - 2 of something in line with each other
MAN OH MAN! this looks almost as bad as my first soldering job.
OK, so the reason you batts are smoking is because a negative and positive connection is touching somewhere... and it looks like it could be multiple places...
you should watch the video and read this thread-
http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...w-DVD-Tutorial
you should also buy some heatshrink, and make sure you are wiriing your recharge port correctly...
I made some comments in your pic...
That's a start at least, you should know you will probably have to redo this wiring job...
Got a Question? There's a thread for that...

There is a lot wrong, here. This is just what I can tell from your picture.
#1 - There is nothing connected to the base of the transistor
#2 - Your wires are bare, no heatshrink, nothing
#3 - Random globs of electrical tape
#4 - From what I can tell, you have both negative and positive leads going to the same places on the recharge port.
#5 - Where is the resistor?
#6 - The LEDs are still on the board, which means you aren't wiring the board correctly
#7 - Where do the yellow wires lead to? (EDIT: Ahh, the speaker)
Before you do anything else, you need to do some more reading. These links should help you learn what you need to do:

Also, try using punctuation in your posts. It's a lot easier to understand when it's not all one run-on sentance with lots of 'texting shorthand'.

You know, I don't mean to be a grammar nazi here, but could you please use punctuation in your posts th hunter? It would greatly help those who are trying to help you. Also, looking at that.....what you called wiring, it's not hard to imagine a short somewhere. You have like a bajillion wires going to what looks like 1 pin on the AV switch. The pins look squished in and touching (which would cause a short). Also looks like you are using 22ga. wire which is thicker and more rigid. When you go to put this in a hilt *shudders* the thicker wires won't bend as well and will put more stress on the connections. Having them properly insulated/relieved with heatshrink will help, but thinner gauge wire would be better too. Nothing is insulated in that pic save for whatever horrifying mystery awaits under that electrical tape.
Rule #2 of Saber Electronics: Electrical tape is forbidden. Always. On pain of being stoned to death by carnies.
There is a quite extensive tutorial on using and wiring the 2010 Eco boards, why wouldn't you use such a valuable resource? It has pics and everything.
