Thread: Luxeon 3w driver with EL?

  1. #1

Default Luxeon 3w driver with EL?

does the Luxeon 3w driver work with EL lightsabers and or are you able to manipulate Luxeon 3w driver to work with an EL lightsaber
and can anyone tell me where to find a Luxeon 3w driver and/or one that detects clash, lock, motion, ignition, deactivation, coring and impact

Nope, Luxeons and EL are two different and incompatable technologies.

There is a Luxeon 3W Driver in the store. Click "Click here to enter store" then Navigate on the side LED Products>Hilt Supplies>Electronics & LEDs. There are others out there but this one is specifically made for sabers and based on your question I think I know what you want.

There is NO way to give EL a extension/retraction. The current is applied across the EL wire evenly, at best you could dim the whole blade in and out. You could try banks of EL wire similar to MR with LEDs, but this is hard and would probably make the blade just as fragile as an MR.

For EL? Probably, but it's not worth it. You still wouldn't be able to get any fancy feature for it based on how EL wire works.

Nope, for those of you that didn't know there are three people that saber enthusiats like to call the "luxeon trinity". These are Alex (UltraSWG), Joe (Corbin_Das) and Tim (Strydur). They all are equally known for doing their thing and often freely share products.

Like the 3W driver here was developed by Corbin (hence it often being called a Corbin or Corbin's driver). Corbin uses the colored disks from here, Ultra uses the MHS for his customs, etc...

It's all pretty friendly on the sharing with no undercutting.[]

i knew about the trinity but i didn't think that they shared parts. now that you mention it, ultra's 5 watt stunt saber looks like a mhs piece

I did know that Ultra used the MHS pieces, that's why I bought his stunt saber, it gave me a good place to start building my own custom saber. Now I just need money for the rest of it.
