it looks like they are hitting pretty hard and they didn't break the blade. and those are old models, the new ones are tougher

I have seen that Video before two I only have three questions, are they even hitting? What is up with the storm troopers? Why so many rolls? Otherwise good choreography.[8D]

yes, they are hitting cause you can hear the clash. i have no clue what is up with the storm troopers and the rolls are cool, that is why there are so many

Just FYI, my dad took the blade out of a 6-cell Vader to use on his Vader costume, but he left the sound stuff working. He is very fond of turning it on and swinging it back and forth so fast that the clash sound fires almost constantly. So they don't necessarily have to be hitting. Like I said just FYI.

I wouldn't blame him if he did this early... the Vader ANH was a mess. The sensors were so twitchy. Probably isn't as bad as you think if it was one with a DIN plug too.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIN_connector

Used alot for sound equipment, computers, etc. one of the setups used by MR to connect the board to the blade.

Not all of them. Only earlier models as I understand it. Basically it means on the DIN plug models all you need is too put a thumbscrew once you've disassembled it and the blade is removable even with the stock LED strips.
