Thread: blade detachment and inverter

    Default blade detachment and inverter

I think that I read somewhere that you have to remove the battery from an EL saber before removing the blade. Is this true??

No, this not an issue. That can happen on other inverters, but that could be fixed by putting the switch on the battery leads (an inverter constantly pulling power, might have been JLo that mentioned the issue or had experience with it). I think more likely you are thinking of the "inverter protection" issue. This was that you can't turn it on without the blade in. Again, Tim has expressed that he hasn't encountered any issues with his inverters that he sells.

    I mentioned what now? [:X]

I've heard of people putting a switch on the inverter output, which makes no sense, but these were probably people who didn't know what they were doing, or understand the way an inverter works, or what the switch actually does in the circuit. They just did it on their own without talking to anyone about it, apparently.[xx(]

Yeah, that'd be a point where you'd have to pull the batteries out as the inverter would be getting constant power.[xx(]

Bottomline is if you put the switch on the power input or use Tim's which has seperate switch leads then it will have no problems.
