Yes that is sweet. 1in L x 5/8 W after cut with the blue or green inside would be awesome.

That is looking awesome, I do think its a little to bling, perhaps some weathering to take the bling down a step and to make it look a little less pristine. Making models I have found this works quite well;
Also for some inspiration this guy has some primo weathering on a few of his sabers (along the lines of what your doing).
