Thread: Voice activation

    Default Voice activation

Saw this on ThinkGeek today and immediately thought it might be an interesting way to power on a lightsaber.

I'm gonna hit up the stores this weekend and see if I can track one of these down. It shouldn't be too hard to wire up a voice-activated stunt saber similar to the way we use the economy boards.

I wonder how accurate it is... and it would be much better if it recognised "activate"

Excellent find. I can't wait to see a saber using this tech.

If you read the description it says "Actually, you get to record each sound command. So you can make any spell, word, or sound turn on and off your wand light."

Oh, wow. I'll risk Wars/Trek blasphemy here.

This opens the door to Jean-Luc Picard's "Engage"- activated lightsaber...

Sorry for the double post, but I want to make sure no one buys this to try in a saber. It barely works as a voice activated wand. It is very picky on voice activation. In order for you to turn it on you have to shake the wand, wait 4 seconds and then say the on word. To turn it off shake the wand, wait 4 seconds and say the off word. You can override the voice activation and turn on the wand by shaking it 3 times and to turn off shake it 3 more times. All of the shaking involved to make it work makes it unusable in a saber. So, do not get this and expect it to work in a saber.
