even if this wand is a fail. maybe we could pass the idea along to Evr, and see if he could put voice activation in his next CF update.
Thats quite a big project.
You need microphones, and then on the firmware code to recognise speech perfectly each time, and over the sound on the saber, and then you need to place the microphone somewhere on the hilt.
And besides, voice activation doesn't exist in Star Wars anyway. I doubt this would be a feature on a CF any time soon.

Is there a way to bypass the shake sensor and just hard wire it so it's always on, so as to at least be able to just use the voice commands?

Ether way I would not bother ERV with this. A saber is not a droid. And holding your saber next to your face and talking to it is hmm... How should I put it? Not Star Wars.
Actually Erv has thought about a motion sensing power on. The video I found is from May 2010, so I don't know if you all have seen it. But here is it.

The CFv5 manual lists "Motion Activated Ignition" as one of its features. I'd say it's safe to assume he liked the idea.
I actually wracked my brain for a while about the voice feature. I just couldn't think of any good activation commands that sounded Star Warsy. "May the Force be with you" takes too long in combat.

We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.
