Thread: quick halloween saber

    Default quick halloween saber

Thanks to slvrcrest for the inspiration and idea.

Been working so hard on my wife and son's costumes that I have to recycle my jedi costume from last year. Wasn't thrilled with that, but it is worth it after seening how they both came out. My only hope was to mod my costume a bit... add to the boots and maybe make a belt hanger hilt.

Well after seeing slvrcrest's post I ran into my garage and grabbed the 1.5 pvc sinktube that I had for my belt hanger prop that I wasn't going to get to make (resigned at this point to just re-using my brand-not-to-be-mentioned saber from last year) and it fit perfectly.

Did a very quick mock up design on paper, cut it out, put in on the sinktube, dremeled it, sanded and sanded, primed, and painted, added a little car detailing stripes... and wehlla. Quick slightly better halloween prop.

I will most likely use the existing rubber end cap since I don't have time to do a lowe's run. But hey... it works for the time being.

You shouldn't be ashamed of that piece if PVC, it will make a fine addition to your costume.

Thanks cardcollecter... Not really ashamed. I am actually happy w what I was able to do very quickly on the spot. I am just recognizing that it is very simple when compared to the very inspirational builds here. I hope to actually make my own from scratch soon

That looks great and cleanly done. I hope to be trying pvc hilts soon.
