queston on which led to pick
Okay. I looked for a while a didn't find the answer. So is it better to use a luxeon v or a luxeon III in my vader conversion?

do-clo is dead on. the 5watts voltage demands are too high for the stock mr board. it probably wouldnt hardly fire the led much or any at all, and as the great wise do-clo said, you would have to run 2 seperate circuts and batt packs, 1 for the mr and one for the led straight. . it is a much better and easier way to go using the 3 watters in the MR's.
now one thing it may or may not work in would be the older 6 cell mr's. there might be enough juice, but ultra, corbin and tim could say for sure on that one.

If the person is using a white LED and want brightness in an MR Hilt a K2 is about as bright as a 5 watt... At least in my opinion...
Then you wouldn't have to mess with the wiring and voltage issues..
correct me if i'm wrong.

Sence it was brought up no sence in a new topic even thou this topic is old, but whatever.
A K2 versus a lux3 on an MR, would the k2 be better than the lux3?
I know it wouldent get the full potental with the limitations of the MR board.
The way I understand it is the sound can be ran at 4.5-6v, if you run an led with it you should stay at 4.5v(?).
Would this be safe with a k2 on a MR?

Yup,
It's safe. In the case of white, gree, blue.. a K2 would be marginally brighter if run of the MR board directly (4.5 v.) Red/orange - stick with a 3w.
If you incorporate a relay - you can run the K2 at it's full amperage. But it's trickier to wire up. And it will use your batteries faster.
