Thread: Super Strong Plastic Epoxy?

  1. #1

    Default Super Strong Plastic Epoxy?

Can anyone suggest a really super strong epoxy/glue that will work on plastic/pvc that can take a BEATING?

    I've tried this:

    http://www.amazon.com/ITW-PERFORMANC.../dp/B001QWMVP8

But it is not doing the trick.

Trying to attach a blade holder to pvc pipe but need it to stand up to the impact once the blade is in place and the beating commences.

What you posted is to attach plastic to plastic on the molecular level.

Metal on Plastic won't work (like you saw).

I can't recommend any Metal on Plastic epoxy... id true gorilla glue? Watch out for the mess though.

Tried Gorilla glue. No good. To clarify, the blade holder is not metal. Plastic attaching to pcv.

well, idk what you are trying to do exactly mabye some pics? I work with PVC ...alot and whenever Im doing my sabers the blade sits in the actual body of the saber 6-7 " this is what makes my sabers do durable and able to duel with them.

I have never used any glue, only screws.

    Put post some pics!!!

PVC glue is best for PVC.

JB weld is best for metal.

Then read the instructions of the epoxy.

My guess is you did not mix it properly and/or not enough curing time.

That stuff is rated pretty hardcore too... Maybe it has an expiration date too?

The best I have used is 3M panel bond, we use it in the autobody shop to bond metal on metal, and also repair plastics so it is made to bond with both.

Thanks to all who have responded. I may not be letting the epoxy sit long eough. I remixed it and put it together again last night. Will let it sit for over 24 hours before installing the blade again. If that does not work I'll try some of the other suggestions.

I think the bigger problem may be that I did not build it with enough depth for the blade to sit in. 6-7" as Havok suggested would be way too much. That's 1/2 the hilt! I may just need another inch or so. I hope I don't have to pull this apart and rebuild it.
