Thread: SSR90 Prototype

    Talking SSR90 Prototype

I finally decided to put my first saber together. This was a cram test of sorts to get a feel for what can be fit into a hilt.

I have put about 6 months of thought and work into this saber and learned a lot from this forum (thanks) and trial & error.

The hilt is big, 14.5 in long and the grip is 1.7 O.D. It is still easy to hold and I don't have huge hands.

    Features

SSR90 with forced air cooling system running at 5 amps 20 watts

    Laser illuminated durable crystal chamber

    9 led 4060 blinky

    4 momentary switches,

One switch for accent leds & fan.

    One switch for BLI.

    One switch for lockup.

One illuminated switch for blade and chamber.

38 inch thin wall trans white blade.

    Illuminated pommel.

    Pommel recharge port.

2 speaker module. No sound board yet tho.

    Magnetic belt clip.

4 X 18650 battery pack for good run time.

This is how I mounted the illuminated switch & blinky

A beautiful saber to be sure! I especially like the custom work on the blade holder.

I'd never even thought about a magnetic belt clip before.

Hopefully you'll get sound in there soon, it's too nice of a saber to remain silent for long.

Oh my God. I have a New Unicorn. Great looking saber.

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

Saber grande! Too bulky for me but very cool nontheless.

From Wikipedia: "Internet Explorer slows down GIFs if the framerate is 20 frames per second or higher and Microsoft reports that Google Chrome and Safari also slow down some GIF animations."

That saber says to me "I'm 8' tall. My saber is large and in charge. My saber is so powerful, it lights up an OPAQUE spheroid crystal. My saber is in a state of barely contained overload at all times. If you make me turn it on, well, I'm going to have to satiate it before I can put it away. You understand, of course"

I'd like to hear a CF soundfont with the idle derived from a big-block 454 with heavy cam shaft. The engine barely stays running at idle, but when you get her up to speed, she has horsepower to spare.

AK-47s and Lightsabers, both so fun to build

    Thanks guys.

Yeah you can tell I went a little overboard on this one. It is well balanced & more weldable than I feared it might be. The next one will be a shrunk down version of this.

I got Tim to make that out of MHS Sleeve.
