Thread: Hasbro wiring question

    Default Hasbro wiring question

I disassembled this Hasbro lightsaber so long ago that I don't remember which one it is! One black wire from the card is clearly labeled "LAMP", so I assume it goes to the main LED. But what is the other black wire labeled "VSS"? Should I just cut it off or can it be used for something like accent LEDs? Any help is appreciated.

One more stupid question ...the wires I have labeled "Switch" in the photo still have the original switch attached. Can that switch just be cut off and replaced with my own switch? Thanks again!

    Your link doesn't work.

There is a simple math formula for Saber names.-----------------------To check out the sound fonts I've made:

    Red face Doh!

    Sorry! This should work:

Per Starkiller's question: I have no idea! I took the board out of the saber a loooong time ago and no longer have the box or the other parts.

for that soundboard, the "VSS" is the battery ground.....the "LAMP" wire is the ground for the light bulb that lit the blade. This will also be your ground/neg for the led. The "VCC" is the positive from the battery, and will have to be shared with the led. The saber it came from used the battery compartment positive contact to also contact the bulb. The rest is pretty much self explanatory. The switch can indeed be cut off and wired to another momentary type switch.

    Default Wiring check?

Thank you Master Jinn! I think that helped a lot. Maybe you can tell me ...does this wiring look right?

I don't think you'll want your accent led's in the circuit before the transistor....put them in parallel with the main led....otherwise, I think it looks right...maybe someone with more experience with these boards will look it over as well.

as per jay put the led in parellel .....it looks ok but not 100 percent positive might need someone with more expertise then myself to look over it also ....good luck on the rest of ur build

Thanks for the help guys. I am admittedly s l o w when it comes to circuits, but I'm trying to learn. Here is my latest attempt:
