Default Road of Redemption by Rhyen Skytracker

This will be my new personal saber and since I don't get to make too many personal sabers I thought I would make a WIP thread. This is a work in progress and is turning out completely different than I had orginally planned. It will have a custom chassis and crystal chamber. Most of the chassis is only 1" OD. I found out a Yoda FX board will fit perfect. hehe Anyway, here is what I have so far. I am open to suggestions and questions.

I still have to machine a part to go in the empty space. I think I will go for a choke type part to kinda match what is under this wide part in the middle.

A choke would be nice. Though I must suggest not making the central diameter of the choke less than "1.25 Even that seems a little tight for this saber...

Anyway, it looks wonderful as of yet, and I'm quite excited to see the next step. I especially like the detail work on the blade holder.

I like the little 'groove' milled out are on the baldeholder.... maybe that should be a window/cut out all the way?

    why the cross? a theme?

Looks pretty cool so far. Love the blade holder and false T-grips.

The grip is made of 1.5" OD aluminum round. I wanted to have grips simular to the t-grips and still keep the OD right at 1.5".

This saber will be used in some videos and skits for my church, that is why I milled out a cross in the emitter. The cut out does go all the way through the shroud so when the saber is on the blade color will shine through. I will be using a purple blade using a RGBA LED.

It reminds me of a paladins weapon. Maybe polish it super shiny like armor.

I have polished it with simichrome polish and it now has a chrome like finish. That stuff works great.

I was referring to the milled out 'underside' back by the larger OD of the BH..

(not the cross.. I can see that is cut out all the way)..

I gotch now. I guess that would very nice but I use my sabers a lot and didn't want to risk it breaking. That section is actually 2 pieces, the blade holder and the cross shroud.

EDIT: I have machined most of the hilt parts. All I have left to machine is the pommel. Then I will have to finish up the inside with the chassis and crystal chamber. I am not too sure what kind of pommel I want to make for it and I am open to suggestions. Keep in mind the ID of the grip section is only 1". Here are the updated pics:
