DEar Fender Bender,
Thank you for the information . I read the tutorials on how to put the electronic parts together for the light up part for the blade and the battery compartment. I can do some soldering if my hands don't shake too much while holding the soldering iron. I have a feeling I am going to have to make the one from "A New Hope." as the version I had seen for the younger Kenobi hilt on the Lightsabers from the yellow box site had a lot of cutting in the sink pipe, and the way my hands are, I won't be able to do that I fear. I would like the younger Obi Wan kenobis version but if I can't do it I wont waste time and money getting the parts.
I do have a few more question tho.
!. what is powdercoating, and do they offer it as a service on here?
Yup, Tim does a great job at powdercoating at a reasonable cost.
2. What is the graflix replic clamp? And what is the switch box?(Sorry, I am new at the terms for the parts for this! I usually see them being used on the screen and not in my hand.)
For the New Hope version, the saber had a protrusion about midway down that was part of a clamp used on the Graflex flash guns that were used for the Luke New Hope saber. The Obi Wan saber had one as well. There are replicas of this clamp that are out there that are cheaper to get than vintage ones. It simply "clamps" around the saber. A lot of people also use this area to tuck away the switches used for turning on the saber. For the New Hope version you will also need a bubble strip, for the ROTS version you will have to do some hunting for a laser cut card.
3.What is a greeblie ? is it like a small screw or bolt for decoration?
Exactly I would do some googling for images of the saber you are trying to replicate and get all angles, it will clarify the things that Im telling you.
4.Is the MHS gear the electronics part for the lightsaber blade to llight up?
The Gear section is an MHS part (from the store) that loosely replicates the booster section on the Obi Wan sabers between the pommel and clamp.
thank you for reading this!
