LED question

i got the LED kit (Amber) but I am having trouble putting it it in. The lens and the Lens holder are giving me trouble. I set it on the heatsink and try to screw down the Blade Holder but it wont go down and it risk breaking it.

Check does it fit correctly without blade holder. If it doesn't, you may have to de-solder the leads from the LED and solder them again to the correct places.

The led is soldered down according to the tutorial the lens holder fits perfectly onto it but it seems to be the lens/ lens holder.

Do you have a 5 or 10 degree lens?

Is the lens suppose to lock into the lens holder?

the lens can sometimes be hard to get right. The 5 degree especially doesn't quite sit properly. I have had to hold it down while screwing on the blade holder, to make sure it doesn't slip.

Well I have it laying on my led holder right now and it looks ok, but yeah I noticed the lens doesn't want to sit in the holder.

I usually use a 10 degree lens, which fits better. I'm doing a build for a friend, and he ordered a 5 degree lens. I just shaved off a little of the top edges of the lens where it would lock under the tabs until it snapped in. Not hard to do at all.

Also, make sure you're LED star is perfectly centered on the heat sink or that can cause some problems with screwing down the blade holder. I like to sand a slight bevel on the edge of the top of the lens holder so the optics will fit more easily into the blade holder.

Well I was following the Noob guide for building a LED saber so maybe someone should change the step to say select a 10 degree lens if its easier and doesn't need any modifications.
