    Default Partially removing saber sound?

Hey there, I'm new around here and was hoping someone could help me out.

I've got an old MR ESB Luke FX saber that I'd like to remove all sounds except the power up and power down. Would this be something as simple as clipping a couple wires? I'd really appreciate any help!

    Thanks again! Pete

    Hi Pete,

Sorry to say that it's not that easy. In essence, it's actually impossible withthose boards. They're all connected and lumped under a single glob of resin that prevents consumers from tampering with that part. Sorry.

However, if you're willing to do the leg-work. It's not an impossible feat:

This is a lightsaber torch ("flashlight" in the USA).

And it only has Power on/off sounds... no hum, no swings or clashes...

On a very basic level, you can gut it for the sound board and install that in the place of your FX. It's more involved of course - but certainly not impossible..

    Good Luck!

What if he removed the swing and clash sensors? The hum wouldn't totally go away but it wouldn't be triggered to change pitch, and the clashes won't work at all. Or would that not work?

I don't know why you'd want to ruin a perfectly good board, though.

I'd say that you could remove the swing and clash sensors. You'd still have the hum like J-Lo said, but it would accomplish most of what you want.

Thanks guys -- I really appreciate the help. Yes, I had thought about using the lightsaber torch soundboards since they have exactly what I need. I'm hopeful it will be any easy swap.

    Thanks again! Pete

    This does make me wonder...
    Why?

What use could you possibly have for a humless, swingless, clashless board?
And why would you use a $60 board for just two sounds?

correct me if i'm wrong, but don't most MR boards have an auto shutoff feature that will turn the board off after a minute or so of no input? so clipping the sensors off would leave the on and off sounds, but no way to generate further input.

Yeah, thats right. Hmm... I'm sure there must be some workaround, even though I'm not inclined to ruin an FX board. What exactly is your 'special project'?
