RGB LED wiring?

This may sound really stupid... but i'm still wondering how to wire a color changing or RGB LED. I know as much as any other noob, and i have built at least two complete sabers myself, but i just can't answer this question for myself. Anyone?

Thanks... i watched the vid and it helped a bit... then i looked at the wiring diagram i found for Lord Maul's Spectra and now everything makes sense... only one more question. When i order an RGB LED what are the three best LEDs to mount? (I'm talking about in terms of lumens so as to make good combination colors like purple etc.)

I am planning a saber build with an RGB LED and a rotary switch to change colors and i wanna make sure i get the right items and knowledge i need.
