If your about skottsaber, can you have a look over these, would they work? and achieve the whole flicker effect but bright?

Also any luck with the mosfet yet?

If you use a PNP transistor you will need to wire the transistor base to the - of the speaker, not the +. Also the buck puck can only put out as much power as is fed into it. You need to be sure that you have at least 6 volts going to the buckpuck from the transistor. By using the speaker output to power the transistor it limits the amount of power that you can get through the transistor. That is the main reason I don't use these economy boards anymore. The new ultimate economy boards are better. They don't blink on power on/off and if you use NiMH or Li-Ion batteries they will put out enough mA for most LEDs with out having to use the transistor set up. Here is a saber I made with the new ultimate economy board with out using the TIP42 transistor. http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...yen-Skytracker

will the transistor not "see" the base as neg (even if it's pos), providing it's lower than what's going through the collector and emitter?

No, a PNP transistor has to have a - voltage to trigger it and a NPN has to have a + voltage to trigger it. Ask Skott about that issue. LOL

Just remember to use a PNP transistor with the economy boards on the - output (either the speaker or the LED output) and you will be ok.

Anyone find a solution for keeping the LED bright while running the TIP42 off of the speaker - ? The youtube videos are pretty sweet with that wiring config if only there was a way of getting the LED brighter...

Hmm, some sort of window comparator is needed so that the voltage differences on the speaker is translated to a smaller drop in the LED voltage. I'm sort of up to my neck at the moment, but I'll have a think about it.
With the Blast Shield down I can't even see.. how am I supposed to fight
