Sinktube pommel idea?

I'm building my first sinktube saber (props to Jay-Gon of course) for my son to use @ ICON this year.
Anyway, I was thinking that the grill/pommel insert that most people use is a little Spartan. I've been using cabinet drawer pulls as part of the pommels on my pvc sabers and wondered if they could work on a sinktube.
Well they fit almost perfectly under the end nut of the sinktube. They could also be attached to a washer and go on the outside of the nut as well as to the grill so that sound can still pass through.
