Arkm, have you thought of making a part to go in the very middle to stickup so you can grab it? It wouldn't have to be much, just enough to grap and pull it out.

The center of the heads are rounded instread of flat making it very difficult to JB weld something on so I would have to bore a hole through the center so that I could attach a center piece to the white plastic or whathaveyou. Plus the metal those shaver heads are made out of is extremely tough. I already ruined a mill bit trying to bore through them but I am getting a better end mill to try again.

For now, the plan is to make them installable and removable by gravity alone. I'll be getting a TCSS blade holder soon and have decided to use that as the guideline for how big the OD on my plugs should be. Plus I'm using good calipers on the blade plug parts so I should get a really nice fit.

That's pretty much what the pictures show, Shadar.

Shad, my first post states what I used to mount it. The shaver head sits on a custom lathed (and slightly bored) piece of white plastic. The top part of the plastic piece is made to fit the shaver head and the bottom part of the plastic piece is made to fit the PolyC (which is standard blade material). I can machine the plastic piece to fit either thin or thick-walled PolyC. The metal ring just sits on top of the lip that those shaver heads have. While I haven't done so yet with my prototypes, the parts would be glued together using 2-part clear epoxy.

Very nice innovation Arkm. Those are great looking plugs.
I'd think you could take the plug that's in the TCSS store, cut it down and mount one o these razors to the end for a similar effect.
Yes, I spell it sabre. I just like it that way.

Beautiful blade plugs. I need to find a razor I can savage now. Thanks for the great idea.
Please advise me if I have made any mistakes. I am always learning. Thank you ahead for sharing your expertise.

I have seen several people posting about dismantling their shavers or hunting for scrap shavers. Just in case you all didn't know, you can buy replacement heads from lots of places. Here is just an example:

or just see what else you can find:

    *resurrects my old thread.*

Hi all, I came up with a variation of my blade plug that allows for an additional ring of light on the outermost edge of the top of the blade plug. Basically I just make the metal ring that goes around the shaver head as well as the white plastic piece that the shaver head sits on, 7/8" O.D. instead of 1" O.D. This allows the blade plug "assembly" to sit completely inside thin-walled 1" O.D. polycarbonate tubing. Here are some pics...

I call this new style, "Design 2" or "D2" for short. The original versions of my blade plug are known as N, R1 and R2 so the Design 2 version of these are called ND2, R1D2 or...

    ... wait for it...

    R2D2.
