Don't print in PLA or your saber will go floppy on you *very* fast (its glass transition temp, i.e. temperature it gets amorphous and soft at, is 55 deg C).
Printing out of ABS would be better, but...
In general, when bending the leads on a switch/connector, you should *always* bend them as close to the middle as possible, as far away from any holes and with as gentle a curve as possible. None of...
At a risk of breaking some unwritten rule of etiquette, let me try to help you...
The 2W speakers sold in the TCSS and PL shops have an impedance of 8 ohms.
You can generally always drive a...
You've got two dies driven at - let's say 1A (you want it bright, right?), 2.59V voltage drop.
That's 2*1*2.59 = 5.18W. Let's assume you're using two 1.2 ohm resistors. You're dissipating additional...

Waved it about, shook it, kicked it, recharged it, nothing smoking.
I guess it passes the test.
By the way, that's two orange-red dies in series at...
I can *barely* close the hilt.
I left the extra LED unconnected for now.

Yes, one of the chassis discs cracked....
Thanks, guys!
I'm currently in full cram-fu mode, trying to fit everything in the hilt.
Lesson learned - it's not the components that are hard to cram inside, it's the wiring :)
I went...
Sig quote material :)
Good luck! Seems like an interesting build!
That seems like it might diminish the structural integrity by quite a bit, especially if done at the center of the hilt.
The inner tube will help, of course, but any bumps or drops might cause the...

Added a splash of paint here and there to break up the monotony a little and make it bit less flashlighty.

Re: pulsing - mystery solved.
Pulsing used to be available regardless of mode (i.e. it was accessible in normal, idle and clash) pre-CF7.
Since CF7, it's limited to idle mode.
Wiring question:...
The good news is: the minimum test-bench wireup works.
The bad news is: i was staring right at the main LED when it started working.
Everything is so very green right now.
At least i had the...
Well, to be fair, i never mentioned which accent pad i was intending to wire the switch to, and offered the vid as an example of the intended LED behaviour only ;)
But yes, i should've been more...
Ah, that's it!
Except in CF7, it's now LEDs 5-8 instead of LED1.
Thank you!
Just one more post... LOL
1) accmode 1 => off when idle, mirrors blade when blade is on
2) accmode 2 => PWM pulsing when the blade is off (idle) - not available when the blade is on
3) Erv's...
LOL, didn't you just conclude the pulsing in Erv's video i've linked IS NOT blade mirroring?
Yet it's clearly happening *while the blade is on* :)
What am i missing here (it's past 2am here and...
Indeed.
Which brings me back to my original question (yay, full circle):
if the manual states PWM pulsing is only available in idle mode, where is the pulsing w/ the blade on coming from?
In...
For what it's worth, my money was on me being confused too :)
However, this does not look like mirror mode:

(timecode: 5m17s)
Wait... Either i'm horribly confused (entirely possible) or the CF manual is.
Don't the accent pads do the PWM pulsing only when idle (for crystal chamber setups)?
I.e. in the Crystal Pulse mode...
That's what i was aiming at.
Because i've noticed there are no accent configuration options that do PWM pulsing when on (and was wondering where that came from).
Thanks!
Another dumb question - this time not directly hilt-related, but didn't want to open a new thread...
I've noticed in some of the build videos that people often have the AV switch LED pulsating...
Makes perfect sense.
Thanks for the tip!
Hahah, good point.
Was just thinking "wait, no, stop, don't try pressing it in before you wire it" when i saw your post.
