The nobs on the side and the low profile activation box both came off of a broken antique camera. I wanted to use some found parts to get that original trilogy feel.
Thanks guys.
The blade plug is a tee nut like this http://findnsave.sacbee.com/Product/24378001/1-4-20-x-5-16-in-Coarse-Stainless-Steel-Brad-Hole-Tee-Nut
I just glued it to a piece of left over...
In the beginning of the New Jedi Order book series there are only a little over one hundred Jedi running around with the only master Jedi being Luke Skywalker.
I wanted to make a saber that looked...
It would annoy me if they just threw out all of the EU canon. I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would take some of the fun out of the star war universe for me.
My biggest fear is...
The power cable is a 6' stainless steel icemaker supply connector like this
...
These look great. I really like the weathering on the last one.
Thanks. I was careful not to have the saber look older than I am. I've found that when I weather props it's useful to decide the general age before I start (used vs. ancient, etc.)
Thanks for the feed back guys.
The pommel I made with a quick release off of an outdoor security camera. The ID was just right to slide over pommel #1. A little JB weld and, bada bing, unique...
I've been working on this one on and off for a couple of months. I wanted an old republic saber that looked like it had seen some action. Weathered with aluminum black, flat black paint wash,...
You should use a short blade and call it a shoto.
Thanks guys.:)
As for the sound in the power pack, unfortunately it's not an option with the way I set this one up. The power cord rotates at the hilt and the power pack. I found that when I used it...
I've wanted to do one of these ever since I read the Tales of The Jedi comics. It's not a straight reproduction (the sabers looked different from panel to panel) but has the major design features of...
Better late than never...
Here's the two I did this year. It's strange...I didn't have any kids come to the door.

Very cool saber. I like it.
How did you secure the leather?
Thanks guys. I was not expecting this much praise for my junk box saber.:)
@Caine Drathul: I always like to hide/modify the power switch on my sabers. I think it can get a little boring seeing the...
This is my first "bad guy saber". I'm on a little bit of a tight budget lately (lots of hobbies and only one job) so this saber is mostly spare parts that I had rattling around in my junk box. The...
If it's an antique predecessor to the current lightsabers with a combination of energy and metal, that could be cool.
If it's a black energy blade, I'm going to be mad
Either way, I think...
I like the x-wing and the tie fighter shoes.
Thanks psab :)
Thanks J-Lo:D
I'm particularly proud of the weathering. I practiced a lot before doing the helmet. My kitchen trash can and my miter box both got weathered as well.:p
OK, update.
I was going to keep the basic design and give my helmet a new paint job. However, my five year old nephew took one look at it and said it didn't look right (i.e. it didn't look like...
I was doing some Christmas shopping and I came across this

Has any one ever tried this before?
Maybe a clone...
