Do you have any refrences for that? I'm curious.... I think most of the LED's we use in sabers are considered "Class II" laser devices... or some such.
I'd be interested in doing some research on...
Haha.... the Epi-Saber? ;P
Yeah, it would be a pretty easy thing to do. I'm still "Tied up" for a little while, but I could help work out some code if you are interested.
What I have now looks...
I've always liked throwing things in to latin or greek...
English:Best Man
Latin:Optimus Vir

Ohh, if you are in to using a microcontroller, check out the Arduino as well. ( www.arduino.cc ).
I have found it to be pretty darn easy to use. (Well, you know...easy for what it is, LOL.)
Try looking up tutorials for 555 Timer circuits.
It's a basic building clock for a lot of digital and quasi-digital circuits.
Transistors are not on/off only, they amplify a signal. they are...
I don't think the lighthound can direct drive a LED, though.
This guy is good for 10A.
I ran in to something similar to the BCD switch in the shoubox earlier, it's called a BCH (Binary Coded Hexadecimal) switch. It would give you 16 color combos.

I got this fella in the mail... tiny! I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but size wise it seems to fit the bill!
Anyway, it bodes well for being the exact thing to fix the...
Nice looking kit! Well done on modding and building your own stuff.
Hehe... yeah, Vader Costumes can be rough.
I once did the state Fair in Pueblo CO in August. 105 degrees that day..... at one...
You could try one of these....

Cheap enough that it may cost more to perf board your own circuit.
Jagahati... what happens if you cut power to the OP amp?
Just thinking, if you have it working the way you want when the saber is on, if you find someplace on the sound board that has power when...
I ordered one, I'll give it a run through and see what it does.
That one marked 10v 22uf is almost certainly a capacitor.
This little guy takes a momentary switch input and turns on a latching high current switch.
In theory, you could hook a momentary up to this board and to your soundboard that takes a momentary...
Yeah, I'm working an air cooled system for my next one myself. I'm setting the fan up to run 20% longer than main LED was on (Up to 2 minutes).
That way, if the blade was on for 5 minutes...
Well, 20 watts is 20 watts.... the "conversion rate" of watts to heat is pretty consistant no matter the technology as a remarkably small percentage of the energy involved is actually converted to...
Aero-Gel! Love that stuff... or at least the idea of it. LOL... one of these days I will order a chunk off ebay. Anyway... it's an amazing insulator... there's common pics of a thin sheet of it with...
Whats the voltage of your battery pack?
The regulator is to keep the voltage from your battery from frying the board. If your battery voltage is only 5 or maybe 6v you are probably OK without it....
LOL, well like I said earlier... for $2, I'd try it!
I've seen folks that made flashlights that could catch things on fire.... if it wasn't a hoaxed vid that's gotta be one poopload of lumens.
...
Ahhhh..... looks like they dimensioned a star in the drawing. Sorry about that... that's where I got the 19.9MM dimension.
Sorry! LOL, damn and it looked so usefull! Well, for something... anyway.
Here's an example... again from Wiki (God I love that thing!)
For example, a lamp that emits 590 cd with a radiation angle of 40° emits about 223 lumens
Now, as a rough arsed ballpark.... if...
Opps.. I think I see a little flaw in the math... candella is based on the entire area of a sphere (That's where your 12.57 multiplier comes from) but because of the focusing effect of the reflector...
Looks like it's 19mm, or about 3/4" across. It's spendy at $16, but maybe it could make forr sleek saber design that's barely bigger than the blade or something?

I certainly wouldn't want to hold anyone back... LOL, I'm always doing stuff that "can't be done" just because.... well, someone said it can't be done! LOL.
My big concern is just the specs don't...
