A quick sketch

now I want to design a "soul edge" saber and after that a "soul caliber" (light side) version

the first thought I had was "soul Caliber" and the evil Blade that corrupts the weilder. you could add those eliments to your backstory. I'm thinking ancient sith saber who's weilder was so powerful...

Actually both are slightly it wasn't intentional they just kinda layed that way because the emiter is thiner at the top. but somehow thay dont have a gap at the bottom so I think its partly optical...

I like it.. I dont think the business of the hilt takes away from the crystal chamber. the exposed wires and stuff make it look a little crude and I find it makes it look star warsy
