Also keep in mind that with the board on the right you will have to solder where the switch made contact. If you look close there is a circle with traces in it. You have solder a wire to each side...

Only 11 orders this year. 4-Rhyen's, 4-Arkai's and 3-Manly's. I plan on doing much better next year. At least they were not all Rhyen's. LOL

You can use the 3.3V pad to run a low voltage EL inverter to light the EL wire. (Be sure you get the low voltage inverter for 3Volts or it will not be enough voltage to run it.) Like this one: ...

The main thing to consider is that the LED and the switch are 2 different components and have nothing to do with each other as far as internal wiring goes. So you just have a switch and an accent...

Yes, that is parallel, but the main LED doesn't have a resistor. It is good general practice to put the resistor on the same side of the circuit so you don't get confused. Ex: if you put the...

Good catch Ari, I didn't pay that much attention to the diagram, I was just asking a standard question. I would also suggest that you wire it in parallel with the main LED too (with the proper size...

Are you sure the polarity of the LED is correct? If it is reveresed it won't work at all. I am sure you probably checked that but it never hurts to double check or try it the other way.

The best thing to do is to just get one of the new Ultimate FX Hasbro economy sabers and use the board from it. You don't have the blinking on power on/off and it actually has pretty good LED output...

Make sure it is a PNP and not NPN transistor if you are using the board LED - to trigger the transistor. I recommend a TIP42 transistor.
