Ah.. simpler than I thought.. thanks.!
Still planning for a neopixel saber and was wondering how to configure an illuminated blade plug..
If the config is for a 140 pixel long blade, what happens when I put a 10 or less pixel blade...
Thanks.! I must say my friend was quite surprised.. they usually get wine bottles or money as a tip after a job.
For the box, i used a double sized wine gift box that I had.
I don't post often on forums and been busy on other projects for the last 2 years..
So here's my second build:
All MHS parts
Prizm 5.1
Thanks to ARKM for the incredible salt water etching...
Wow! Great job!!
Google "slate black patina" and you'll find it easily.

To get that I cleaned well with soap to remove any grease, light sanding with 200 or 400 grit paper.
Experiment with patina...
I've used slate black to get a brown finish on my first built. The resulting color can vary a lot depending on how you prepare your part (cleaning and sanding). Experiment on scrap aluminum before...
Thanks! I should receive a clamp-on guide in a few days. I have a few spare parts that I can use to practice with.
I'll look for that. Thanks!
I'm still on the drawing board for my second saber and I'll probably have to secure 2 parts together (double ended male with double ended female) at one point..
I figure I'll have to drill through...
Nice trick.! I would be curious to see (..hear..) with a soundboard... Maybe there would be a way to trigger a special effect..?
Metal chassis disc for MHS V2.. :)
And I assume accent LEDs end-up most of the time glued in a tight place, so not so much fun to replace..
I'll add a few 0.45ohm resistors to my wishlist then, they should be handy once in a while. ...
Most 5mm RGB I've seen have a 3-3.4v range for green and blue. Would it be ok to go with a "no resistor" option for these two channels?
Thanks!
A bit less work for me and probably a much cleaner job than what I would have done. :)
I'm sure I saw the answer somewhere on the forum but can't find it again..
On the PC 3.5 I just received, the resistor footprint for the accent LEDs are already bridged with resistors.
Anybody...
Before you start working on an expensive soundboard, practice on a old motherboard.
Thanks!!
For the color combination, I actually thought at first that the flash color was just added to the main color. So GGR would give me a yellow flash.
Being able to mix the two colours and get...
I plan to make a built with a PC 3.5 without color mixing and I want to make sure I understand the manual correctly..
- If I don't use a 2512 2W SMD for FoC, I need to bridge the pads and use a...
Really like the etching and color scheme. Good job!
I've seen people use different materials for the tactile switch buttons and I was wondering how to fix the button on the switch..
Is it just glued on.? Or there is a more elegant way to do that..
Thanks you all for the comments!
i must say this is really addictive!! I've already started to make drawings for another one for my girlfriend.
Thanks!
For the paint job, it's actually slate black aluminum patina protected with permalac. I like the "randomness" this chemical process gives but I'm not sure I'll go this way again, it's easy...
I've been lurking this forum for the last year, watching Madcow's tutorials, gathering info from FJK and SS replies to other poster's questions..
So here is my first built, with a few mistakes and a...
Thanks! Can't wait to the day I'll finally see and ear my first build fire-up!
