With a 4 axis cnc mill you could do a bas relief of the pattern on the saber.
Always tin both. With flux, a good tip, and a nice hot iron you can do it nice and quick.
I have one of the TCSS sleeves and they are very raw. I am planning on using it for my next build and it looks like it is going to need a lot of sanding and polishing before cutting, then more...
