3 watt 3 ohm.
Sweet. Great first. :)
Do you have the right resistor on the led/s. It sounds like it is drawing too much current. Which led and resistor depends on color and vf.
What kind of charger seems to have done something? Also was the charger plugged in before it was plugged into the saber?
So I'm guessing that the 3 AA batteries come down to a lower voltage when the FoC kicks in. So the load on the batteries brings the voltage into the safe zone when it flashes? You could also do a...
Cool. :) Are you using a resistor to limit the current on this setup?
I would just get 2 2 x AAA and glue them end to end and wire them for 6v. :)
We are not allowed to mention Digi for things the shop here does not stock anymore?
Cool Saberz!
Nice saber. The grip is cool and the colors work well.
Way too complicated to get into. Especially for a beginner.
Huge props for your first. Well done.
This CAN be adapted for saber use. http://goinggear.com/flashlights/flashlights/olight-sr90-intimidator-2200-lumens-sst-90-flashlight.html
Realize it.... :) ...
Welcome back and congratz! :)
Good to see another nice build and good to see you around again. :)
2 18650s can provide plenty of power for that led. You need to spend more than a week planning your electronic setup. It sounds like you are going for brightness. So are you flashing 2 dies or...
Thanks guys. One with a red blade would need some sithy weathering. I need to learn more about metal finishing and unfinishing for that. If only a brighter deep red was possible. To get to 650nm...
Thanks. There are only 2 18650s . The load sometimes sounds like more than it really is. The SSR90 draws 6 amps but at 3.6v. The laser draws 300ma but at 1v
Thank you sir. That is a nice D12....
Batteries with tabs are easier and safer to solder.
Just dont short the solder tabs to anything. The ring doesnt matter.
Today I present... Well it doesnt have a name but it has a few interesting features to point out. Some have seen the Praxis saber I built a year or two ago. This one is a sister saber regarding the...
You must know how you are going to setup said dies too. For example, If you take a 10w ledengin and drive all four dice to the max you will have a heat issue to deal with.
You need to do a lot of research. Like FJK said, you get what you pay for. A good 18650 battery is about $12. Or you can get what may be advertised as a better 18650 for $2 on DX but as the price...
Here is an example of weighting the back of the saber. :)

I would use a magnetic hall effect switch with a magnet in a glove or a wrist lanyard.
