The flutes are the grip. They are not really designed to be used with any other grip.

Flashing red means something is wrong. Also unless it sat for months it would not be completely dead as you described. Not saying it cant be the charger but it does sound like something else is wrong.

The colors are what you would imagine they are for the most part.
Lime is between green and yellow

28 gauge wire is for sure not large enough for neopixel. Use 24 gauge.. That is probably not the problem at the moment since it does not work at all but once it did work it probably would have melted...

Are you using CFX or NB.. we realized recently this does not work for NB as changing it to 264 does not register correctly.

They are made using the pixel sticks versus pixel strips. They are directly soldered to a custom PCB so there is as little of a gap before the pixels start as possible as well as no wires to stress.
