Very nice. I'd like to see a ribbed extension like that offered in the store too. [:)]

I'm really interested in the Gen2 Hyperdyne stuff.. if the price ever comes down a bit I'll have to get one.

3M makes a pretty good plastic polish I've used to restore sun-damage headlights; I'm sure it would help reduce the appearance battle scars on the poly blades.

Definitely go parallel 9v for the 5w. The difference in brightness is very noticeable.

Here's a couple new pics after a little more polishing and a royal blue 5w (now being powered by a 9v).

^ Since the Luke pommel piece attaches to the end with two bolts, you can simply slide the sound card and speaker in and out without worrying about binding anything.

^ But if the max forward voltage is 8.31, wouldn't 7.2v be okay?

MHS 5w Luxeon (Green)
I've been running my 5w Green on a 6v setup.. it does light up bright and all, but I have no 3w to compare against in this format. I just ordered a few of those 6 AA holders and I'm thinking of...
1.) Tape off the areas you don't want to polish.
2.) Sand the surfaces you wish to polish evenly. *For this project I held the sand paper in one hand, and rotated the hilt on the paper with the...
Yup, I get the 2000 at the local auto part store. 1500 grit also works alright, but to get the best finish 2000 is the ticket. As for the polish, I personally use Simichrome Polish, but the easy to...
Thanks! I got the hilt to a good shine with about an hour invested and just using the metal polish. Earlier today I found some 2000 grit sandpaper in the garage and thought "why not?" Lol. That...
Well, I think I'm done polishing this hilt. Though the MHS is fairly shiney as is, I wanted a brighter luster. Luckily the aluminum on the MHS carries only minor blemishes (great machine work...
^ Interested also. Will the sound card be prewired and sectioned off in that female piece?
Can someone post a link to Erv's page? I'd like to see what he's made.
The day Hyperdyne makes his sound cards universal, my MHS will be equipped. [^]
I like the painted look, but I decided to polish mine (and I'm not done quite yet).

Here's my MHS w/ a green 5w Luxeon. I'm currently using a 6v pack to power it, so I expect it to get a little brighter w/ more juice. [:)] *MR Luke is the in these pics for comparison.

^I think it's more than just a pommel with holes. I'm crossing my fingers for a full "sound kit" or something.
Great review. Did you also get the Hyperdyne sound board? I hear it has some fantastic sounds. I was also very interested in going the Hyperdyne route, but I simply can't afford the $360 kit...
Here's some MR's I have:
