(drooling on desk) me wantee. Nice hilt do-clo. I guess as soon as I get the cash I'll start building sabers professionaly and sell to the local folks around here. I already have a few people that would be willing to let me build them one. I still haven't made myself a saber that's uniqe to me. Still working on my first hilt. Hope I get it done soon. If I get it done I'll post here with pics. Anyway I'll be making some double blades uniqe to me and my fighting style here quick. Last you just have to take it slow on your personal hilt do-clo and eventually you'll get it done. I'll post those personal double hilts here too. Anyway nice hilt do-clo.
That looks great, Do-Clo!
HA HA nope my Coffin got damaged and then there was that SPF 2M Sunblock I discovered so here's Marc E.Quote:

Do you have rabies? Shocked
Also as far as I know No Rabies especially since I usually Bite First!!!
I agree that this one and your imperial knight are great Do-Clo... just out of curiosity, do you make multiples of those, or always one-ofs?
I will build more than one of a saber that is a clone of a Movie or EU saber, but the custom sabers I normaly only build one of.
Very nice Do-Clo!
Ysterday I finally got around to doing all the soldering for my lightsaber... (FINALLY!).. and everything was pretty easy (in terms of the soldering). I just have to put it all together, so I've got my fingers crossed to get pics of my saber up by the end of the week. Ituses only sink and sink tube parts.
I guess that translates to "Yes Mars, I will gladly build you a fantastic Imperial Knight saber." :lol:Quote:

There wil be a V3.0 one day, it will address the things that I was not happy with the other two versions. :wink:Quote:

Beautiful saber, Madcow... just out of curiosity, are you using a 4.8 v setup with the CF for that and the Quigon? I'm wondering if NiMh will work or if I should just use a couple Li-ions
4.8V of NiMH is what Erv uses a lot. It's just fine. Li-ions are cool though because their voltage makes runtimes better.
Nice saber... looks a lot like a RLSA g-saber.
Thanks,
It was Ravages design mostly. Based of another saber he saw - may have been an RLSA.
Another nice thing about 4.8 v. NIMH is that the low battery indicator feature works. It's useless with a LiIon setup because the voltage never gets low enough - the protection circuit cuts it off first. Although with LiIons the runtime is longer.

WOW! That looks so sweet! Great job Rob!! Enjoy it Ravage!!
I LOVE MY HILT!!!! anyone who has questions about madcow he i an awesome person to deal with, very professional i got a complete wiring diagram with my saber and disassembly instructions he gets an A++ rating from me big thank you to Erv for the cf v 2.5 and the saber was based off of a design from a guy who had a site called the saberworks (if anyone has one of his el sabers and wishes to part with it call me).
I have some paint to do on the hilt still and I will post pics and a video later this week
again great job Rob,
p.s. Rob showed off the qui-gonn hilt to me awesome, awesome, awesome!
(Rob can run faster than me which is why he still has it! )
lol, is till wish he would have made 2! :D
Learn to throw things farther? :wink:Quote:

It was a Maul.
Pritty cool
You guys are in for a treat. You guys know that every saber I make is specialized to my likings. The next one will be my best one made so far.

Hello, all!
This post might be kind of long. Let me know if it is too long. Here are the sabers that I own so far:
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu.../allsabers.jpg
This is a shot of all 6 hilts that I've built since finding TCSS. The one on the far right is my MR Mace for size comparison.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...ber_hilt_1.jpg
Empty hilt made of a 2.6 cm I.D. Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nestled inside a 3.4 cm I.D. Schedule 40 aluminum pipe. The pipe was from a local metal supply company. Electrical tape and duct tape wound around the inner pipe make for a snug fit. Screws will later be used to lock them in place. Those little half-black windows around the middle will be all black when it's done.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...ber_hilt_2.jpg
I thought this one and the previous one would make a good master and padawan pair. Again two diameters of Schedule 40 pipe nestled one inside the other. I'd like to take this moment to brag on myself a bit. The grooves were cut with a hacksaw and filed smooth by hand. I don't own a lathe. I just wrapped tape around the pipe to make sure I had a straight line all the way around. Then I very carefully cut and filed. Took forever, btw. When it was done I just snapped o-rings into the grooves but it looks good without them, too.

In better light.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...ber_hilt_3.jpg
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...r_hilt_3.1.jpg
More Schedule 40 pipe. Grips are thick 3-M rubber squeegee pad from the body and paint section of a local auto parts store. Grips are secured with Gorilla Glue. Pretty darned solid, but let's see how long they stay on.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...lite_saber.jpg
Plastic sprinkler pommel, Schedule 40 pipe, rubber squeegee grips set into holes cut into the outer Schedule 40, o-rings, parts of sink spray nozzles, 1 1/4" sink tube, TCSS thumb screw, with a 3 watt Mini-Maglite wedged/screwed into it. An inelegant solution, but I was desperate for a lighted saber. I don't really like the twist-on, twist-off. I'll probably replace the Maglite with a Luxeon someday.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...tial_light.jpg
Maglite saber in a partially lit room. Thick walled blade with double-wrap plastic tracing paper from Tandy Leather as diffuser. Almost as good as Tim's diffuser but it takes a lot more effort to install. Use Tim's. Blade color is Lee Filters 738 JAS Green.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...ux_3_saber.jpg
TCSS green Lux 3 run directly off a Hasbro spring loaded Vader board and 4 AAA batteries (6 volts). Tim's mini speaker. Thick walled 36" blade with Tim's diffuser. More Schedule 40 aluminum pipe. Grips are non-slip walkway tape from Lowe's. The grip tape looks good but feels sandpapery on the hands
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...tial_light.jpg
Lux 3 saber in a partially lit room.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...s/k2_saber.jpg
TCSS white K2 resistored off 4 AA batteries (6v). Grips are Bolivian rosewood. 1 1/4" sink tube inside 1 1/2 " sink tube. Thick walled 36" blade with Tim's diffuser. Cheap Radio Shack sliding switch. Think I'll go with Tim's latching switches from now on. Brass rings are cut from the 1 1/2" sink tube with the chrome sanded off. That took longer than you'd think. I described this saber to my girlfriend who said it sounded steampunk. Except for the chrome silver (should be gunmetal) this looks like the saber for Sir Alan Quartermain, Jedi Knight.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...tial_light.jpg
Saber in a partially lit room. Blade color is Lee Filters 048 Rose Purple. A tasty purple, indeed!
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...r_blades_2.jpg
Sabers in a fully lit room. From left to right: Lux 3 with Hasbro sound; 3 watt Mini Maglite w/ green filter; white K2 w/ purple filter; MR Windu (for comparison); 3 empty hilts. You'll note that even with the K2, my purple saber has the weakest light output. The filter produces more of a true purple than the MR (which looks blue in the pics) but the filter eats up the brightness. I'd need a Lux V to make it worth the effort. If only they weren't so pricey.
http://www.overlordproject.com/costu...ber_blades.jpg
The purple filtered K2 works a lot better in partial light. The MR (at far right) is still the brightest, but the Lux 3 running off the Hasbro (at far left) is a close second and it has a nice flare at the base. I can live with the Hasbro flash-on-clash for the time being.
Someday soon I want to build and sell sabers at some cons where I vend. I need "bare-bones" boards like the Hasbro but for cheaper than buying a bunch of $20 Hasbro sabers and dismantling them. I wish Tim had some sort of entry-level sound boards. Maybe I'll put that on the wish-list thread?
I'll post other sabers as I build them. It's almost time to order more parts from Tim. Lucky I just got a raise at work. ;)

This is the latest saber to come out of the workshop, the hilt is all custom machined aluminum and polished with a polished brass overlay tube cut out to high light the hilt detail. The led is a white luxeon K2 with a yellow filter and a 36 inch long ultra blade. The blade picture was taken in a normally lighted room.

I really like the brass sink tube over it, kinda looks like gold. And I love that sink tube piece all the way on top of the blade holder.
Pritty cool DC.
Don what do you use to make your cuts so clean if you dont mind my asking?
A steady hand with the dremel and then I use a file to do the final smoothing and shaping followed up by some fine sand paper to finish it up.Quote:

And I really like that hilt, Do-Clo. I can't believe it took me awhile to figure out why it looked so familiar though...
