My bad.
StrangeWings, I think I got over my anorexia problem.
Tim, now you get to see what those cuts were for. This is the first one.
The top picture is a side by side comparisson to one of my MRs.
Second shot is with 5 incandescent bulbs lit in the room.
I feel good about this project. BTW, there is a Hasbro sound module in there too.

GeluKhanGharr-
Another sweet-looking hilt. Do you have a name for that latest one? "Bad M.F." comes to mind. Awesome work, I may have to commission you to build/sell me a hilt sometime.
"Chaka, call off Dawson, will ya?!"
I like that one a lot more. I decided to go with copper when I started mine for 2 reasons. One I like it and two no one was using it. Now it seems I am behind the times. Oh well I still like it.
Here are the first 2 dueling sabers I built, I also own a MR Ep3 Annakin Light Saber, currently building a LED Saber will post pic when finished.

To get that look i took 180 grit sand paper. i twisted the hilt one way as i pulled it through my hand and the twisted the other way to give it a kind of cross pattern. i left some of the chrome to make it look lighter or weathered i guess. Thanks

Mi Gin Gonn, I built this one as a gift for a friend's birthday, so the name is "The Ryan" [:)]. I've built one commsioned order and promissed myself it was the last one. This is a hobby. I want to keep it that way and have complete freedom in the creative process. That doesn't mean I don't sell my sabers - I need some cash to maintain the hobby, but unlike Tim, Ultra and others who are serious about it, I'm not doing it as a business. If you are looking for a speciffic design, don't forget we are on The CUSTOM Saber Shop.
Nevertheless, your words were flattering. Thank you.
StrangeWings, I've used copper beggining with the first hilt I've built. That was before I discovered any of these shops or discussion threads. On this one, I was going to paint it, but Ryan seemed to like the look of bare metal better, so I only painted the soldered part to cover it up. I like the result. Now I'm looking into building a mostly copper hilt. I need to find a way to stop it from tarnishing, though.

You can polish the copper then use a clear urethane in a spray can. I t will stay on for a while if not applied to thick. If a brushed look is desired polish it then use a grey or gold scotch brite pad to scuff it then if it is cleared in this state it will last the longest.

GeluKhanGharr-
Interesting coincidence. My name is Ryan too, lol.[:D]
Oh, I didn't mean have you build something to spec, sorry for the confusion. I'd probably wanna buy one of yours from page 1 anyway, if you ever wanna sell one that is.
"Chaka, call off Dawson, will ya?!"
They're all gone bro. How do you think i paid for all the nice holders from Tim i just got a while back. More to come.
BTW, what do you think of this for a sith saber:

is that el wire in the hilt? If so does it light? Even if it doesn't that saber is the Mad note!
http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/3213/sig35jo.jpg
I wish I could see the rest of it in the pic. Hmmm...this may sound odd, but it reminds me of Maximillian the robot from "The Black Hole" for some reason...maybe reminds me of his razor-sharp spinning slicer weapons along with the deep red. Wicked all the way[}:)] That's what Palpatine should have been slingin' in EPIII instead of that turd-looking hilt he had.
Page 1 sabers gone?! I haven't been this bummed out since Mr. Miyagi died. [:(] Pooey.
"Chaka, call off Dawson, will ya?!"
Tetmatek, yes and yes. However, it does not have the effect I was going for. It's lame, not bright enough.
Mi Gin Gonn, it is not finished yet, so there isn't anything else to see except the end of a tube. Yeah, that was my vision of a sith bad a** hilt. it needs more work, but I think I'm going in the right direction.

I'm going to use a clear paint from rustoleum. Painters Choice number 0191 I think. I email them and told them what I was doing and they said it would work perfectly. They recommened polishing it and then using a lacquer thinner to remover all the polish residue. Then spray it using multiple very light coats. I hope it works because then all I have to do it coat the grip with the rubber and I am done. Side note. I had to switch from the 8 aaa batteries to a 9 volt because I decided to make the blade holder/emitter to big. So the batteries wouldn't fit.
I was thinking the exact same thing about GeluKhanGharr's sith saber. I think it's the coloring and the angles it has.
Here's a stunt saber I just got in the mail. It's unfinished and I'll be modding it.
It was a school project of a friend's who's a drafting major. He got 10 to be made as his final machining project. I can't wait to get home and start making it my own.[:D]

Hey, I saw those in ASAP. The plans showed they are solid. Heavy?
Lightsaber Warning Label: "CAUTION: Do NOT attempt to sharpen blade."
Yup, I use the same handle on ASAP. I'm Hack on the RP side too.[:D]
It is solid. It's aluminum so it weighs less than 2 pounds. Cheaper to ship and easy on the arms with a blade in.[8D]

which thing...that it looked like Maximillian or that it'd have been good for polishing off Mace Windu's posse?

Newest baby. Hey Tim, likee? Now you see why I didn't need screws and holes tapped. I did notice I am missing the 2 plastic screws that hold the LED in place in one of the holders. Do you think you can throw in a couple of those with my next order? Thanks.

I finished My Christmas production run. Here is a picture of the collection:
http://www.geocities.com/projectstm/...ollection2.JPG
Last one was made last saturday, took me about 3 hours. Three are being gifted to relatives. Covertec parts and and some small hardware bits purchased from Tim. Rest of it is pure VadeBlade
I also packed away all the lightsaber making tools. The lathe actually cleaner and better tuned then when I got it from the manufacturer. Does not look like much but critical bits are in the plastic box next to the lathe. Here is a picture:

I have one more hilt I want to make but I need a CNC mill to make it. I am having someone else make it for me. It will have two same color LEDs. I will have pictures when it is completed. I figure Feb. Other then that I am calling it quits. It's been fun, but it's time to do something else.
Lightsaber Warning Label: "CAUTION: Do NOT attempt to sharpen blade."
Anyone know about how much a CNC made hilt might be, negating extra little details and materials cost, just a rough figure??
Sorry..I meant the part about maximillion..but it does looks mean. Actually Maximillion scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
Vincent,
How much for the lathe?

Gelu..I really like that emitter section on the new one that you posted. Just as an idea...what would you think about doing a ring of holes above the last ring right before the top? Very small ones ofcourse. Just something I say when I looked at it.
saw..not say
<font face="Book Antiqua"><font size="2"><font color="red">Ok, let's try posting this again, the first time I tried it didn't take....
Anyway, here's my first hilt, made for a co-worker's son for christmas. I bead-blasted the inside of the polyC tube to get the diffusion, I will try blasting the outside on my next one.

Check out what I just wrote on the other thread for helping out on designs. I addressed this there.
Gelu, for the cost of sending everything to you, you would be better of buying a new one. I just about broke my back carrying that thing from my workbench to the dining room. But to answer your question, 400 for everything (about $600 worth of stuff). I am selling to someone local to me only.

Great ideea! I won't change this one though since it is on eBay already, but I'll keep it in mind for the future. Like for when I'll get that drill press I promissed myself for Christmas. It is very hard to do a nice job with a hand held drill.

How can you be born of sith seduced by the light side? I don't quite understand. I've been actually thinking about it for a couple weeks, everytime i see it. Are you saying that you were born on one side of the force, but was seduced by the side that takes painstaking dicipline and almost total repression of one's self? I mean, it sounds like a fundamentally flawed idea. Especially cause when someone's lost to the dark side they lose who they are, how can you go from that to fanatical purity and death to one's self? I know i sound like i'm a complaining nerd (don't mean to), but i'm honestly just wondering if you have a little story behind that name or something.
Tim
oh, btw, i forgot to share this with everybody. for saber & other prop parts, a good place to hit up is the parts deptartment of any major car dealership, i know because i work in one. if you can, find out when they throw out their warranty part returns, that's pay dirt. you can find a whole treasure trove of stuff that they'd just otherwise toss in the dumpster, a lot of it in fine physical shape (just defective enough to not leave on a new car). most places do this about once a month.
