Wow, nice Mace conversion. Is the blade removable? What did you use to mount the LED? I have a broken Mace saber too and want to make it Lux, but I have no ideea what to mount the LED on. I think Tim said he will make holders at some time, but it doesn't seem to be very soon.
Got the parts from CSS

Moved at the last second with that one, supposed to be Red. Camera settings were off as well.
Let me try this again...I finally figured out my grip problem so now all I have to do is finish it..but here are some progress pics..

The main part is copper..the emitter and endcap are aluminium (from css), the blade is from css made by me...actually come to think of it..except for the copper almost all of it is from css..
Alright, here are some of my sabers.

Except for the purple wire, all of the blades pictured are made with stuff from CSS. I've been too cheap to buy the holders and did the Lowes specials or sleaved copper pipe, but that will change for the sabers I intend to keep. I love to make them work and include sound modules, but my best enjoyment comes from designing the hilts. Cheers!

hey StrangeWings, what do you do to keep the copper from tarnishing? I love the look, but what I tried only stays shiny and nice like that for few hours. The grease/acids from my hands stains them.
finally found a way to post them, man what a pain in the butt. here they are:

the pics arent the best. i used a crappy lil 3 in 1 camera. its all i got right now.
this hilt was made from a 3 cell heiland synchronar. i used a vader type shroud. and i made an outer casing from pvc tube of the qui-gonn outer casing design. i also put 2 leds in it as well. i couldnt catch the red blinking one but i did catch the blue one. theyre on opposite sides from each other. the blue is a constant on while the red blinks. i used tims holder and 40 inch blue el blade kit. also using his 2 khz inverter in it for now. i plan on swapping the 4 khz out of the graflex once i get the led kit for the graflex.
the graflex i have is a real one not a remade piece. i got the 4 khz el kit in it right now.
it has a graflex shop core,(looks fantastic too, just like the real thing). i just used tims blue el blade in it. i dont have any pics of it yet, but i will soon. it is definately brighter using the 4 over the 2 khz driver. i eventully am going to go with a led blade kit from graflex shop in the graflex. i know, buty i dont intend to duel with it.
its for show. i have a luke esb conversion kit on it and using the led kit from GS it will have the retract/extend feature and removeable blade and with his controller it also has the sound hookup. i plan on scavenging a hasbro anakin color change saber for the sound. i already tested it in a blank graflex bottom tube. lil tight fit to get it in there with battery and el setup, but led controller might be smaller and give me more room.
his led controller has the spot on it for sound hookup. i simply put the sound switch wires to the controller and when i power it up or down, it turns on or off the sound at the same time.
anyways getting back to the pics of the saber i built before my latest project.
i call this the yin/yang saber. lol. good/evil. ya get it, vader/qui-gonn.
i have the leds on a seperate battery setup, 2AA's and the el on a single 9 volt. it all fit nicely into the 3 cell. led holders were a pain to put in place since i had to go down far enough to clear the holder and stuff. then, fishing the darn leds into tube and into the bottoms of each holder, pushing them into each one wasnt easy at all.
but the payoff was worth it. i have led's with a el kit. they can run together or seperately. i probably could of went with some resistoring here and there and running off 2 9 volts or whatever, but this setup worked out good. as i said, wished the pics were better quality.
Hey GeluKhanGharr, how did you make the activation box for your sabers? (especially for the second one down)
okay heres a few pics of that graflex i got with the GS core part and CSS's 4 khz inverter and using the blue EL blade from CSS as well. this is the one that will eventually get the led blade kit with sound.

Nightwing
it is a U-profile aluminium piece from a local hardware store, wrapped in electrical tape. It looks better than it is. The switch boxes are my weak point, I haven't found a decent solution for that yet.
Havn't gotten that far yet..i was hoping that it wouldn't be problem..but we will see
Are decent cameras that hard to come by? I guess so, if you invest all your residual income into sabers, huh? LOL

Made from a 1.5 tailpiece(sink tube), CSS Luxeon Blade Holder, Hasbro Saber board, and Master Replicas speaker with 10mm Blue LED (WoW it's almost TOO Bright) and MR Blade (My twins are 5 so they havn't broken any of my stock Fx's; Not Yet Anyway; so they should hold up fine.
THe main diff is it Flashes at power up and only changes the idle hum woosh after clashing.
Yeah, I hate that flashing from the Hasbro module. Has anyone found a way around it? Or is the only solution to get the Hasbros that don't flash?

whats the width of the handle part and i mean interesting design good

"Many claim to have found serenity, and through serenity to have overcome anger. Such arrogance is astounding."</center>
Looks well built but for me it seems like it needs more to it.
The handle is 1 3/8 OD. More...what? More parts sticking out? More as in better design? More color? More intricacies? C'mon, help me out, don't just bait me. Is it too simple?
Born of Sith, seduced by the light side.
Sorry I guess more mass in some way. I have nothing against plain sabers. My won't have very much. I guess to me it seems anorexic for lack of a better term.
StrangeWings, I take it you're not a big fan of Obi's ROTS hilt then?
Yeah, I've been trying to feed it some fries, but it won't have it. lol Strange word to use, but descriptive, I understood precisely what you meant.
tetmatek - that looks "sithish" to me. I believe a red LED would have done it better justice. Too agressive for a jedi hilt. Nevertheless, an awsome looking design.
Born of Sith, seduced by the light side.
Yea I wanted to put a red LED in also but my son insisted on green. It looks like a cross between a Klingon Dagger and a Lightsaber. I think Klingons would align themselves with the Sith too!
GeluKhanGharr, those are some badass hilts and pretty damn original to boot!
In the pic with six of them laying down flat, my favorites were 2nd & 3rd from left and 2nd from the right. but they were all awesome. these are all just stuff from Home Depot, huh? I may have to pick your brain for some parts, I just finished my first two LED sabers a few weeks back, as cool as they are the hilts aren't all that original. Then again, you're talkin' to someone here who was born in '75, so I think the Graflex-inspired design is mandatory for first attempts made by people who were born in The Brown Decade.[:D]There's pics of them over on the LED Q and A's forum, I post there under the moniker Darth Shopping Mall.
"Chaka, call off Dawson, will ya?!"
Hey, tetmatek, how did you make those blades/wings/whatever on the side of your hilt?
They were some belt tensioners thet i had a freind make for me. They go to....Ready for this.. a <font color="green">John Deere</font id="green"> Lawn Mower. The crazier the source of parts the cooler the saber!lol[
Gelu..no actually I do like his..I think that is why I feel like yours needs a protein shake. It is similar to it but doesn't have as much. I have discovered that when you make anything star wars that is close to an already established design people automatically think that it is supposed to be the same as the movies and if it's not it looks weird to them. Even if you weren't trying to reproduce the one from the movies. Let me restate so no one thinks I am talking crap about yours..I do like it.
Darth-Mi-Shopping-Gin-Mall-Gonn [:)]
At least yours are nice, clean looking. I've seen some pretty sorry excuses for hilts out there. The difference is where you start. You set off to build a functional LED saber, so the hilt became an accessory. I began at the other end. I started by building a hilt. I made 5 hilts, then I turned to the light and started making hilts with electronics. EL at first, then LED. Now I'm looking to make some combination sabers with sound, EL and Lux LED. I won't say more before I actually have something to show off.[:D]
Anyway, my heart is still in the hilts. It is the hilts that mirror a jedi/sith. The blades are just colored light, not much variation there, whereas in the hilts there are infinite possibilities.
Don't feel bad about being a 75'er. I'm a 69'er myself lol. The only thing I have on you is being born before the first Moon landing.
Yes, most of the parts come from HD/Lowes. I also have a haven of a store here in town that's called OEM Parts. I mean they even have old TV lamps for crying out loud. When I go there, I loose track of time, I leave with drity hands, ripped clothes and about 50 bucks short every time. On the 6 sabers, #2 from the left, the handle is made of an aluminium part from there. I have no ideea what purpose it originally served. On #3, the emitter is an aluminium record player part, also from there. I also picked up the "switch box" - a multi-pin old computer connector. On #5 from the left, everything is from there except the sink pipe. Oh, yeah, and the emitter - that's a candle holder from a trift shop. But just about everything else is a Lowes/Home Depot/ABC Plumbing/ACE Hardware/Radio Shack part.
But like tetmatek said, you can find a saber part in almost any piece of hardware that passes through your hands - the stranger the source, the better lol.
StrangeWings, I didn't take it the wrong way man, constructive criticism is always welcome. From the Obi design, I liked the idea of the thining neck, so I tried to incorporate it in my design. This was my second attempt, and I am now working on the 3rd. This last one will actually be a Lux LED and the blade will be thicker than the thin part of the saber. It might look weird, but I won't know until I try it, right? Have you seen my other "thin neck"? It is somewhere at the beggining of this thread. How does it compare?
Born of Sith, seduced by the light side.
http://www.illumisabers.com
I did see it. Although till you said it was yours I didn't even notice that it was. I was just looking at the pictures. I think I like that one a bit better. Only because it has a bit more on the neck. And as I said I think that it is closer to the Obi, so it seems more familiar. I really dig your other designs. I like the "fins" in the end of the one. Oh and I didn't think that you would take it the wrong way, I was including that in case someone didn't read all the other posts and just that one.
Thanks, GeluKhanGharr. I've never heard of that store you were talking about, but is sounds pretty cool. It would help if I knew what part of the country you live in. You're right about finding saber pieces, any time I'm at Lowes or wherever I go into Terminator lightsaber-parts Scanning Mode, even when I'm just going there to buy an air filter, lol.
Do you machine any of the parts for your hilts, or just find pieces & figure out how to incorporate them?
BTW, I don't feel bad about being a '75er. I'm glad I got to see the last half of the Brown Decade. I call it that because if you look back at tv commercials/magazine ads/movies, every-friggin' thing was brown then. Clothes, furniture, cars, carpeting, you name it. And especially the first "Star Wars" flick. Tattooine had a lot of brown going on, Obi Wan's robe, most of the cast's hair, Chewbacca's fur, and Luke's <font color="brown">landspeeder</font id="brown"> was even brown for pete's sakes.
"Chaka, call off Dawson, will ya?!"
Mi Gin Gonn,
If by machine you mean lathe/planner/mill then no. I'd love to have access to such machines, but I don't. That's why we have Tim. [:)] So it's all in a wise, grinder, drill, dremmel, soldering gun and many hand tools such as tap and drill, files, a plumbing kit for soldering copper pipes and others. And the shop I mentioned is not a chain, it's a locally owned dump hole - Colorado Springs, CO
StrangeWings, I have another comming in a few days. It's an LED and I think it has more "mass" [8D]. It is still thin, but there is more going on, not as borring as the other one. Yeah, now I think of it as borring after designing the new one.
Born of Sith, seduced by the light side.
Here is my Christmas production run. I started this run two weeks ago. Some parts purchased from Tim (covertec clip bottons, d rings, thumb screws). There are still 4 more that should be done by Dec 10. I'll have pictures of those four later.
http://www.geocities.com/projectstm/...collection.JPG
One of the middle ones is mine. I have made close to 30 lightsabers and I suddenly realized I never made one for myself. I have not decided if I want EL or LED. The emitter has a 3/4 inch hole. The pummel has a switch installed for future electronics. more pictures of some of my hilts are here.

Let me know what you think
This is it for me. I am selling off all lightsaber making tools. Moving on to a new hobby. But it has been fun.

All these hilts look great. I too have the same problem, every saber I make is for someone else. I really need to make one for me someday. I dont know how to post picks here so if you want to see some of my creations you can see them at www.jedisabersmith.com.

Here are the hilts that I have made so far. All are EL-powered. I am currently designing several possible LED hilts.
Most of these went through a few upgrades and modification to get to their current configurations. And of course, there are more pics on my website.[;)][8D]
