Seems like you have your wires crossed at your recharge port.
The switch in the port breaks the negative (ground - ) wire from the battery pack to your saber electronics, not the positive.
Unless I am reading your diagram wrong, which I could be.
What he said.. Read the manual

You're way off. Go here, http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Pe...-V20-P612.aspx, and download the PC2.0 Owner's Manual. Turn to page 10, and study the wiring diagram on that page.
so, from what i understand from reading the manual, this is what it should be like?

Nope.
You aren't gettng the switching with that diagram.
If you hook up your power supply to the recharge port, you're gonna fry your electronics with it like that.
Here's a quick sketch of what it should be...

No, you are bridging the negative from the battery pack to the electronics... let the power plug be the switch.
Can you not see this?

Don't ACTUALLY wire across those two terminals. that is just illustrating which two terminals are switched.
remove the wire connecting the 2 negatives at recharge port
I'm sorry sloth, please don't get frustrated, this is the very first time I've messed with any electronics... that said, Like this?
