Vader ESB SW-207 lightsaber with metal clamp?!?

Hi,
Just bought my self a MR ESB (SW-207) Vader saber, and the black clamp around the hilt is made out of bent sheet metal instead of plastic, which all the conversion videos shows?
It totally f'd up my plans for the tactile button place, sins there is no such space inside the power button.
What version is this really, and does anybody have any good suggestion of where to put a tactile button on this one?

Can't you just dremel out a bit of the core block? Sorry I'm not sure how it goes together
