That is what I was thinking as well. I think that moving the covertec wheel and using a small set screw in that area would be my best bet, although I'm really not a fan of how it looks with the covertec on the gear.
I will update you all when Tim gets back to me.

I've been pretty inspired by slothfurnace's work recently, so I went ahead and made some revisions to the crystal chamber design before I finally get around to building it this week. Unfortunately my rotary tool is unexpectedly out of commission, which will delay my progress even further :???:
To add more detail to the chamber, I figured that some asymmetry would be necessary. So I cut off one side of the upper two radiator fins, moved the conduits around some, and added a coolant pipe looking thing. I'm still not 100% sure how I'm going to create that shape with the brass rod, though. All in all I think this design looks much better :)

Also, here are the final revisions of the diagrams that I sent to Tim. I'm finally at the point where I'm waiting for those MHS parts to come back into stock!

Do it with wire. It's much easier to bend.

See if you can find a good source for gooseneck tubing. You can get it as small as 4mm OD with 2mm ID. :)

I've got some ~5mm OD ~3mm ID tubing that I picked up on eBay. It'll do nicely I think :)

I've been trying to diagram my plan for a blade holder, and I really like the way you've diagrammed out your parts for Tim. I may copy your idea to do some guided dremel-fu on my own!
Also, I really like the look of your chassis design!

After an extremely long hiatus due to Darth Real Life and waiting for parts to become available, I'm finally ready to resume this project. The last hilt parts are currently being powder coated.
Spent today modeling the saber, and the chassis will soon follow. Super excited to get this finished :D
