No, when you tighten the screw against the blade it puts pressure on both the blade and the screw and that pressure is what keeps the blade in and the screw from coming out.

I understand you, I understand the presure systeme but...I keep don't geting how does it keeps the screw of coming out...
I understand that the pressure keep the blade in place by the screw but, there is nothing, logically who keep the screw itself...I'll try to understand by myself if a buy a Thumbscrew..

Ok, here's how it works...

You buy a bladeholder like this- http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Sc...e-1--P183.aspx
And thread hole in it following this- http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...ead.php?t=5724
Then you insert a blade into the bladeholder....
And screw the thumbscrew into the threaded bladeholder hole. the screw will press up against the blade and WILL NOT COME OUT!!!!

The screw stays in the hole because the hole in the hilt is threaded like the screw, or the hole in a nut. The screw simply screws into the threads in the hilt....then the friction created by pressing the end on the screw up against the blade as you tighten the screw keeps the crew from backing out of the threaded hole.

The screw has THREADS... the holes it goes into has THREADS.. it screws into and tightens up against the blade in the hole.

I think he's not understanding why the screw doesn't fall out, not realizing that the same pressure of the screw that holds the blade against the blade holder also holds in the screw.
I don't know why he doesn't want to believe us that it does work. I guess he'll just have to try it for himself. :rolleyes:

basically the pushback from the blade creates friction on the threads on the screw and the hilt, the same pressure that locks the blade in also keeps the screw from turning, because of the nature of the screw you can still turn it yourself, but it won't turn on it's own unless something moves it.
