Again read. New doesn't = illiterate. The resistor is only needed if you have a LED driver like Corbin's. The driver takes care of adding the resistance to make the LED light up.

No you dont need a resistor if you use the LED driver.

do different batteries warrant the use of a different resistor? meaning, would you use the same resistor for AA's as AAA's?
its the voltage that matters. as long as whatever you decide to use adds up to the same voltage. 4 aa's =6 volts 4 aaa's = 6 volts. see what i mean? its the same.

thanks for answering that. i didn't know that AA's and AAA's put out the same voltage.
unless your using nicads all regular aa ans aaa bateries are 1.5 volts apeice. nicads are 1.2
Nihms are 1.2 as well, Lithiums are 1.7
